Am I here to think or to learn?

Thinking VS. Doing

Thinking VS. Doing

‘Am I here to think or to learn?’ It’s a good question but one that cannot be simply answered as one or the other, as black or as white; instead with a few greys and a few in-betweens.  This question, no matter how narrow and simple it may appear, is quite existential and hence philosophical.  So essentially what I’m trying to say is that I don’t have (and probably will never have) an explicitly clear-cut answer for you to read; nevertheless, I can provide you with a vague idea on where I stand.

As living and breathing humans, we cannot dedicate our lives to solely think or learn.  If so, we would and should be rendered entirely useless; beings that simply exist and do so aimlessly.  My contention basically is the fact that we are not here to merely think or to learn but to take a step further and do.  Doing and achieving is what’s important.  People are not remembered for what they think or how much they’ve learnt but for how much they’ve accomplished.  Thinking and learning are the elements of existing while achieving and doing are the fundamentals of living and being remembered.  The ability to take what’s been learnt as well as what’s been thought and make something of that, is what distinguishes those who merely exist with those who make a mark.

Essentially the crux of what I’m trying to convey is the fact that I’m here not just to learn or think but do.  I’m here to take what’s been learnt and what’s been thought and transform that into something that makes a dent; not just a scratch.
